Metadata Automation with priint:comet | General & features

Metadata Automation with priint:comet enables the integration of metadata in InDesign image placeholders via priint:comet either statically or from Centric PXM™ attributes. Depending on the data source, the data can also be integrated on a language-dependent basis. These functions make the module an important element on the way to accessible PDF/UA documents.

Suitable for

  • Centric PXM™ | SaaS

  • Centric PXM™ | On-premise

Preconditions

  • priint:comet

  • priint:comet plug-in version 5.0 R35020 or higher

  • Centric PXM™ version 24 or higher

Function

  • A script started by the user in InDesign runs through all image frames in InDesign.

  • If an image is present in a frame, the data source is queried.

  • The alternative text is determined from the configured attribute and placed directly into the image. If no attributes have been maintained, a defined text can be output.

Advantages

  • Automation: Reduces manual work, and consequently saves time.

  • Performance: Image data does not have to be downloaded again.

  • Data quality: Maintenance of alternative texts directly in Centric PXM™.

  • Languages: Option for language-dependent alternative texts.

  • Security: Option to define fallbacks for the alternative texts.

  • Flexibility: Images without placeholders can also obtain alternative texts from Centric PXM™.

  • Convenience: Configuration directly in Centric PXM™

Use cases

  • Support for accessible PDFs from InDesign

  • If no attributes are maintained, defined texts can be added to images. Example: Placed images that are not available in the Centric PXM™ system

  • Maintenance of alternative texts for the images directly in Centric PXM™
