Smart Docs+ | FAQ

The SDZeCOM Smart Docs+ solution extends Centric PXM™ Smart Documents with a powerful configuration environment for users who want to design document templates independently—without programming or external support.
With intuitive settings for colors, fonts, layouts, and attributes, professional documents can be created quickly and flexibly.
This transforms a pure publishing module into a creative self-service tool for marketing, product management, and sales.

1. What is Smart Docs+?

Smart Docs+ is an extension to Centric PXM™ Smart Documents that enables users to configure and design document templates independently.
Users can select attributes, define layout structures, and set design parameters such as colors and fonts - all without the support of developers.
This makes the creation of product data sheets, brochures, and operating instructions significantly more efficient and customized.

2. How does the solution work?

Smart Docs+ offers a structured configuration interface that allows users to define the content and design of their documents:

  • Documents are structured using object type templates with assigned classes and attributes.

  • Users select the relevant attributes (e.g., product name, description, technical data).

  • A simple interface allows colors, fonts, and layout options such as multiple columns to be set.

This creates a clear, reusable design framework that intelligently combines design and data.

3. Which systems are supported?

Smart Docs+ is compatible with:

  • Centric PXM™ | SaaS

  • Centric PXM™ | On-Premise

4. Are there any technical requirements or dependencies?

This requires an existing installation of Centric PXM™ Smart Documents.
Based on this, Smart Docs+ can be integrated without additional system adjustments.
All settings and CSS definitions are stored within the existing PXM structure.

5. What are the advantages of this solution?
  • Self-service configuration without developer effort

  • Quick creation of documents such as data sheets, brochures, or instructions

  • Design freedom through direct customization of colors, fonts, and layouts

  • Structured document templates based on defined classes and attributes

  • Automatic accessibility through support for ALT text attributes and semantic structure

  • Reusable CSS templates for consistent corporate designs

6. What are some typical use cases?
  • Product data sheets with dynamic attribute selection and customized corporate design

  • Instructions and user manuals that can be generated from structured product data

  • Marketing and sales materials, such as brochures or presentations, directly from Centric PXM™

  • Fast template creation for international markets or product lines

7. How is the solution used in Centric PXM™?

Smart Docs+ is integrated directly into the Centric PXM™ Smart Documents user interface.
Users can select and save colors, layouts, fonts, and attributes via configuration dialogs.
This creates a fully configurable document process—from the data source to the finished PDF.

8. Can created templates be reused or shared?

Yes. Once configured, Smart Docs+ templates can be saved as presets and reused in other projects or for other products. This allows company guidelines and CI specifications to be implemented efficiently.

9. Does Smart Docs+ support accessible documents (PDF/UA)?

Yes. Thanks to the clear structure of the templates, semantic attribute linking, and the option to specify ALT text for images, documents generally meet the requirements for accessible PDFs (PDF/UA) – without any manual reworking.

10. Can Smart Docs+ templates be exported or versioned?

Yes. Templates can be exported, versioned, and transferred to development or production environments. This allows for a clear separation between design, content, and deployment.
