Staging | FAQ

SDZeCOM Staging expands the SDZeCOM Integration Suite with a powerful intermediate layer for data preparation, consolidation, and transformation.
It enables data from different source systems to be merged into a consistent, high-quality data set—the so-called golden record.
This ensures that only verified and cleaned information is transferred to Centric PXM™.

1. What is Staging?

Staging is an extension of the SDZeCOM Integration Suite and serves as an upstream data management layer between source systems and Centric PXM™.
It enables the consolidation, transformation, and cleansing of data from various sources.
The goal is to create a complete and validated golden record - the central, consolidated product data record that is transferred to Centric PXM™.

2. How does the solution work?

Staging uses the mechanisms of the SDZeCOM Integration Suite and SDZeCOM Rules+ to flexibly process incoming data sources:

  1. Extraction – Data is imported from various source systems (ERP, CRM, Excel, shops, etc.).

  2. Transformation – Data is prepared as required by Centric PXM™ (e.g., through field assignments, formatting, normalization).

  3. Consolidation – Information from various sources is merged into a golden record.

  4. Validation & correction – SDZeCOM Rules+ is used to check, clean up, or enrich data before it is transferred to PXM.

The result: a high-quality, verified, and fully consistent data set.

3. Which systems are supported?

Staging is compatible with:

  • Centric PXM™ | SaaS

  • Centric PXM™ | On-Premise

4. Are there any technical requirements or dependencies?

Requirements:

  • SDZeCOM Integration Suite (for import, export, and transformation)

  • SDZeCOM Rules+ (for validation and rule-based checking)

  • No additional modules or customizations are required.
Staging can be operated in both cloud and on-premise environments.

5. What are the advantages of this solution?
  • Central processing level for consolidating data from various sources

  • Creation of a golden record with maximum data quality

  • Avoidance of duplicates and inconsistencies

  • Flexible transformation of data formats and structures

  • Reduction of import errors in PIM through upstream quality control

  • No manual data manipulation required before export

6. What are some typical use cases?
  • Consolidation of customer data from different systems into a central data set

  • Integration of product information from ERP, CRM, or supplier data sources

  • Transformation of complex formats (e.g., CSV, XML, JSON) into PXM-compliant structures

  • Pre-validation of supplier data before it is imported into the PIM

  • Automatic duplicate checking and cleansing as part of onboarding processes

7. How is the solution used in Centric PXM™?

Staging works as an upstream component of PIM Studio.
Users define import sources, rules, and transformations in Staging Studio.
After successful cleansing and validation, the data is transferred automatically or manually to Centric PXM™'s PIM Studio.
This keeps the operational PIM system free of incorrect or incomplete data records.

8. What exactly is a Golden Record?

A Golden Record is the consolidated data record that combines all relevant information about a product from different sources.
It represents the only valid, verified, and approved data source for downstream systems such as PIM, DAM, or e-commerce.

9. Can staging processes be automated?

Yes. The Staging Solution supports time- or event-driven processing.
Imports, rule checks, and transfers can be performed automatically or integrated into existing workflow processes.

10. Can data changes be traced?

Yes. All transformation and validation steps are logged so that changes and corrections remain traceable - an important aspect for governance and auditing.
