Asset Archive | FAQ

SDZeCOM Asset Archive is an advanced alternative to Centric PXM™ versioning. It enables the archiving and versioning of media assets and their metadata in a separate volume in the form of a shadow tree of the actual DAM.
In combination with the SDZeCOM Rules+, you can define which assets are to be archived automatically.

1. What is the SDZeCOM Asset Archive Solution?

The solution extends the standard versioning capabilities of Centric PXM™ by enabling structured archiving of assets and metadata in a separate volume. This preserves older or rarely used files without burdening the active DAM system.

2. How does the Asset Archive Solution work?

The solution creates an own shadow tree in a separate volume.
Assets are moved to this archive area according to predefined rules or manually, and are versioned there.
Metadata can also be archived. In combination with the SDZeCOM Rules+, archiving can be fully automated.

3. Which systems are supported?

The SDZeCOM Asset Archive Solution is compatible with:

  • Centric PXM™ | SaaS

  • Centric PXM™ | On-Premise

4. Are there any technical requirements or dependencies?

No. The solution can be used without additional system components.
For advanced automation, it can be optionally combined with the SDZeCOM Rules+.

5. What are the advantages of the Asset Archive Solution?
  • Freeing up storage space in the DAM system

  • Improved clarity and searchability of active assets

  • Archived assets are retained and can be restored at any time

  • Option of automatic, rule-based archiving

  • Support for compliance with legal requirements (e.g., retention or deletion obligations)

6. What are some typical use cases?
  • Archiving older or unused assets, such as graphics and videos

  • Seasonal content, such as campaign materials or product images for specific seasons

  • Outdated product photos or advertising materials that have been replaced by new versions

  • Large files that take up storage space but are rarely needed (e.g., high-resolution images or raw videos)

  • Assets that are no longer legally usable and must be archived

7. How is the solution integrated into Centric PXM™?

Integration takes place directly in Centric PXM™.
Once the archive volume has been set up, archiving rules can be defined (manually or via the SDZeCOM Rules+).
Archived assets are stored in the shadow tree and can be restored as needed.
