SAP Integration | FAQ

The SDZeCOM “SAP Import” solution is specifically designed to address the challenges of importing SAP data into Centric PXM™.
It combines the SDZeCOM Integration Suite, SDZeCOM Staging, and SDZeCOM Rules modules to process data from various SAP IDOC types efficiently, transparently, and based on rules.
This creates a scalable, configurable solution for seamless data exchange between SAP and Centric PXM™.

1. What is the SAP Import Solution?

The SAP Import from SDZeCOM is a specialized solution for integrating SAP data into Centric PXM™.
It enables the automated transfer, preparation, and transmission of product, classification, relationship, and master data from SAP - including associated media files.
The solution bridges the gap between ERP and PIM to make product information available quickly, consistently, and in compliance with regulations.

2. How does the solution work?

The import process is multi-stage and rule-based, using an upstream staging studio:

  1. Data transfer:
SAP data of various IDOC types (e.g., MATMAS, CLFMAS, BOMMAT, ADRMAS, ZSUBST, CREMAS, DEBMAS, CHRMAS) is imported automatically.

  2. Transformation & selection:
In the staging studio, the data is checked, filtered, enriched, and prepared for import.

  3. Rule-based transfer:
Only validated and relevant data records are transferred to the Centric PXM™ PIM studio using SDZeCOM Rules+.

  4. Asset import:
With the IDOC type DOCMAS, additional linked assets are stored directly in the DAM.

  5. Advanced processing:
Data from SAP RD (Recipe Development) can also be transferred and further processed.

The result is a flexible, configurable, and fault-tolerant process for the secure transfer of SAP data to the PIM system.

3. Which systems are supported?

The SAP import is compatible with:

  • Centric PXM™ | SaaS

  • Centric PXM™ | On-Premise

4. Are there any technical requirements or dependencies?

No additional system requirements are necessary.

5. What are the advantages of this solution?
  • Automated SAP data import without individual programming

  • Configurable structure with clearly separated staging, transformation, and rule levels

  • Processing of multiple IDOC types in a uniform workflow

  • Rule-based selection to minimize redundant or incomplete data

  • Direct asset integration (e.g., via DOCMAS) into Centric PXM™ DAM

  • Higher data quality and transparency in the import process

  • Reduced error rate and manual rework

6. What are some typical use cases?
  • Import of product and classification data (MATMAS, CLFMAS) from SAP

  • Transfer of bills of materials and structures (BOMMAT)

  • Import of supplier or customer data (CREMAS, DEBMAS)

  • Transfer of characteristics or variants (CHRMAS)

  • Automatic import of documents and assets via DOCMAS

  • Processing of recipe or development data from SAP RD

  • Rule-based validation and transformation prior to PIM import

7. How is the solution used in Centric PXM™?

The SAP import solution is operated as an upstream staging process within the SDZeCOM Integration Suite.
Administrators and data managers can configure import jobs, store rules, and automate transfer processes there.
The graphical user interface of the Staging Studio allows data to be checked, selected, and transferred to Centric PXM™ in a targeted manner.
Integration takes place entirely within the PXM system landscape – without external middleware.

8. Which IDOC types are supported?

Supported formats include MATMAS, CLFMAS, BOMMAT, ADRMAS, ZSUBST, CREMAS, DEBMAS, CHRMAS, and DOCMAS.
Information from SAP RD can also be processed.

9. Can errors or duplicate records be handled automatically?

Yes. The integrated ruleset (SDZeCOM Rules+) can be used for automatically detecting, marking, or excluding incorrect or duplicate data records.

10. Is bidirectional integration with SAP possible?

The solution is primarily designed for importing data from SAP to PXM.
However, additional extensions to the Integration Suite also allow for reverse transfer (export) to be implemented - e.g., for reporting data quality status or enhancements.
