The SDZeCOM Transfer Backup Solution adds an extra layer of security to the Centric PXM™ backup strategy.
It enables daily database backups to be automatically transferred to the DAM according to the generation principle and, optionally, forwarded from there to the customer's own cloud storage.
This allows companies to flexibly determine their own retention periods and backup strategies - for maximum data security and control of their backups.
1. What is the Transfer Backup solution?
Transfer Backup is an SDZeCOM extension for Centric PXM™ that automatically transfers daily database backups to the digital asset management (DAM) system.
From there, the backups can optionally be synchronized to the customer's cloud storage.
This two-step process provides double protection for the PXM database and offers complete flexibility in determining the retention period.
2. How does the solution work?
The backup process follows a clearly defined sequence:
Daily backup:
Centric PXM™ automatically creates a complete database backup.
Transfer to DAM:
The backup is stored in a defined DAM folder, where it is saved and managed as an asset.
Optional cloud synchronization:
From there, the backup can be automatically transferred to cloud storage provided by the customer (e.g., Azure, AWS, Nextcloud).
Generation principle:
Older backups can be automatically deleted or archived according to configurable rules, depending on the desired retention period.
This makes data backup not only redundant, but also transparent and controllable.
3. Which systems are supported?
The Transfer Backup is compatible with:
4. Are there any technical requirements or dependencies?
No additional technical requirements are necessary.
5. What are the advantages of this solution?
Double data backup through redundant storage in the DAM and optionally in the cloud
Individually configurable retention period based on the generation principle
Easy recovery thanks to central storage in the DAM
No manual effort required for backup export or management
Increased reliability and protection against data loss
Compliance support through traceable backup history
6. What are some typical use cases?
Additional backup of the Centric PXM™ database beyond the standard backup
Long-term archiving of PXM data sets in accordance with internal or legal requirements
Automated cloud backup for distributed locations or external data centers
Recovery scenarios requiring access to older data sets
Backup history based on the generation principle, e.g., daily, weekly, and monthly backups
7. How is the solution used in Centric PXM™?
Once set up, the backup transfer process runs fully automatically.
Administrators can configure the following in the system:
the destination folder in the DAM,
the cloud interface (optional),
and the rules for the backup retention period.
The backups appear in the DAM like normal assets and can be viewed, checked, or manually exported there.
This ensures that the backup remains fully traceable and transparent within the Centric PXM™ ecosystem.
8. Which cloud storage services are supported?
All common cloud storage systems with API or FTP interfaces are supported, including Microsoft Azure, Amazon S3, Nextcloud, Google Cloud Storage, and customer-specific systems.
9. Can DAM assets also be additionally secured?
Yes. In addition to database backups, DAM assets can also be backed up regularly on request to enable complete system recovery.
10. How many backup generations can be managed?
The number and retention period of backup generations can be freely configured. Typical scenarios include daily backups for 30 days or combined 7/4/12 rules (daily/weekly/monthly).
