Customer requirement

Values that are only valid as of a defined point of time in the future are to be maintainable at an earlier point of time.

The legacy data is to be overwritten at the points of time when the new data becomes valid.

Challenges

This topic could be represented using many additional attributes in PIM (future-relevant attributes with corresponding date attributes).

However, this would be somewhat confusing and create unnecessary load in the PIM Studio.

Procedure

1. Create the future-relevant attributes and the associated date attributes in Staging.

2. Create a checkbox attribute that you can use for controlling the copying process of the entire Staging object and all its values to PIM based on rules.

3. Only activate the checkbox when you want the future data to overwrite the old data in PIM Studio.

4. Deactivate the checkbox again.

The copying process to the PIM Studio can also be automated. Possible approaches here include event-based approaches, scripts, or similar.
